The Japanese Garden In Portland, Oregon

JG26I feature mostly food gardens and farms here at Growing Edge. But when I experience a truly world class landscape display garden, I gotta show some pictures…
The calm, peaceful setting of the Japanese Garden in Portland, Oregon is the perfect place to go and leave the hustle and bustle of the modern world behind. Only minutes from downtown Portland, in the West Hills section of town, it is considered one of the world class Japanese Gardens outside of Japan. Many say the best outside of Japan. At this time of year there were not many flowers in sight…trees, rocks and water features; something for all of one’s senses… For more pictures…
The five and a half acre Portland Japanese Garden complex is comprised of five distinct styles of gardens: the flat garden, the tea garden, the stroll garden, the natural garden and the sand and stone garden. Influenced by Shinto, Buddhist, and Taoist philosophies, there is always “something more” in these compositions of stone, water, and plants than meets the eye.
The Portland Japanese Garden has several festival celebrations throughout the year and an Art in the Garden series four times a year. If you visit Portland, this should be one of your must see stops.

I went to the Japanese Garden after walking every isle of the FarWest Show…next up (in the next few days) pics of the Rose Garden, but there are more people there since it has no admission fee.
