I am a Juvenile Supervision Officer for the 90th Judicial District for Young and Stephens Counties, in Texas. We are looking for grant funding to buy a greenhouse and supplies to further our Juvenile Probation Garden Project. Art this time we have raised bed gardens and raise vegetables for the Senior Citizens Center. The kids on probation do all the work in the garden under the direction form local master gardeners, CHief of Probation Donna Cook and myself. Right now we have a gardenin Brfeckenridge, a garden in Graham and are starting a third in the town of Olney, Texas.
We would like to start our own seedlings and sell plants out of the greenhouse to help fund other programs like Drug Prevention, CPR and First Aid, Parenting classes and Anger Management. Most of our kids are amazed to see the seeds that grow thier favorite vegetable, go in the ground and see the stages to ripe vegetables and fruit.
Any information on grant funding available would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You, Karen Roberson JSO
