Spring Has Definitely Sprung When Garden Clubs Hold Their Annual Plant Sales

It is definitely a sign that the season is in full swing when the various garden clubs (there are five or six in Corvallis alone) hold their annual plant sale. Today’s (Saturday) was the Corvallis Evening Garden Club (one of Corvallis’ oldest clubs) plant sale. Plants are priced from $1 to $4 (at garden centers they would be $4 to $15) and there is a large selection of plants (mostly flowers and landscape plants.)
Next Saturday is the OSU Master Gardeners plant sale at the county fairgrounds which is even bigger. And then the very next day is the Corvallis Spring Garden Festival which is even bigger still, with over 50 vendors, some food booths and music too. Meanwhile, in the garden, the weeds keep growing…

Getting there 15 minutes before the scheduled opening ensures a review of what is for sale and first grabs of what looks good…

The crowds came on cue at the announced 8:30 opening…

Our farmer’s market has a plant sale every year. It’s my favorite time of the year!

One of local garden clubs had a sale yesterday, I had to work until noon, so by the time I got there most of all the good stuff was already gone. As if I had room for anymore in my garden, still, I could make room. *grin*
