The GroGood Partnership and Plant a Row for the Hungry on April 18th will be joining in the dedication of the Dallas, TX, Lake Highlands Community Garden expansion from 36 to 90 vegetable garden plots and establishment of a 1,400-square-foot garden for growing food to donate to local food and hunger relief agencies which in these tough economic times have seen an increase in demand for food to serve hungry families.
GroGood Partners are The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company, Keep America Beautiful, the Garden Writers Association, Plant A Row for the Hungry (a community-based program started in 1995 that assists with hunger relief), Feeding America, the National Gardening Association and the Franklin Park Conservatory.
Lake Highlands Community Garden, a successful edible garden, is excited to join the GroGood national gardening program and focus its growing season on giving back to the
community by donating a portion of the harvest to local food agencies. The GroGood Partnership* encourages gardeners to grow their own fruits and vegetables and donate extra produce to feed the hungry, which fulfills the Lake Highlands Garden Mission to strengthen a sense of community by bringing generations together to share in the appreciation of naturally grown vegetables and friendships.
