Sadly, your post shows that welfare and the government handout entitlement system is broken, not the Free-Market.
Sorry but I disagree, the so called free market is a corporatist’s pipe dream. If the free market really did exist, all the banks and insurance companies that were in financial trouble last year would have gone under. Instead, we have corporate welfare that makes social welfare look like a small drop in a very large bucket. Yet social welfare gets all the wrath of complaints. If we did away with all welfare, but especially corporate welfare, we would have a free market system.
I’ve got to agree with Amanda. And I’d advocate for precisely what you mention in your last sentence, doing away with all welfare. Indeed we would have a free market at that point. The subsidy system is parasitic and only aids large incumbents. It certainly needs to go. Then small players can play big within the market.
