Idaho Community Garden Feeds The Hungry

CoeurCommGarCoeur d’Alene’s first Community Garden “Shared Harvest” was started this past spring on three vacant city lots, which have sat overgrown for more than 25 years. Through the generosity of the property owner, the purpose of the community garden is to rent plots to people in the community to grow organic vegetables and fruits. About half the food grown in the garden is donated to soup kitchens, food banks and other nonprofit organizations in the Coeur d’Alene area.
