Farmers’ Markets Are Hot—In Iceland?

strawberryicelandThe strawberries are ripening and are being offered at the local farmers’ market in Flúdir—in southern Iceland! They had to be grown in a greenhouse (photo at right) and need artificial light in the winter.
Other local farmers’ markets are opening up in other parts of the island as more than 20 different type of vegetables are ripening now and becoming available at the markets.
