02-26-09-front-greenhouse-pg-3423jpgWith upwards of 450 students per term in the agriculture program at Fallbrook (CA.) High School, there was a lot of excitement at the recent ribbon cutting ceremony of school’s new high tech greenhouse.
The new 30′ x 24′ greenhouse is a definite upgrade to the small greenhouses the ag students worked in before.
Much of the cost of the greenhouse was raised with donations from local nurseries and from benefit fundraisers in the community.

Instructor George Kreutz plans to use hydroponics and aquaculture in the greenhouse. Kreutz likes hydroponics because the students can control all inputs to the plants and with a controlled environment there is less risk of pests and diseases. Many of the ag students go on to a career in horticulture and local nurseries have hired past students. More pictures of the ribbon cutting ceremony.

I am with an architect’s firm putting together a proposal for a greenhouse, and I think the one in this article might be the kind of structure this high school is looking for.
Would you be able to provide me with a contact for the supplier/builder of the greenhouse? I’d also like to know if this greenhouse is suitable to handle the climate in northern states that have winters similar to Ohio and New York.
The high school I am doing research for is in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Thanks.
